Toddlers

Ages 1 – 2

The toddler curriculum is based on the belief that children learn best through active and engaging experiences.

Curiosity & Exploration

Walking, climbing, and exploring are some of the activities we encourage our toddlers to enjoy each day. We focus on a toddler’s growth, self-esteem, and natural curiosity. We encourage children to explore and discover while supporting their independence. We provide endless opportunities for toddlers to learn and play in an inviting, age-appropriate, and safe environment.

Structure & Flexibility

A structured yet responsive daily schedule meets the needs of the children in this program. Although teachers attend to individual needs, the group or whole class experience is a very important aspect of our program. By listening, talking, and describing actions to our toddlers, we help enhance vocabulary, expand language skills, develop self-esteem, and increase awareness.

Variety of Skills

At Iowa’s Child Early Learning Communities toddlers develop a variety of skills, including physical, language, social-emotional, cognitive, self-help, and gross and fine motor. These skills are introduced using music, art, table toys, movement, games, puzzles, dramatic play, and books.
